Sun Hongpei Attends 2025 GuangdongHong Kong-Macao University Alliance Annual Meeting and Presidents' Forum


On July 11, 2025, the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance Annual Meeting and University Presidents’ Forum was held at the University of Macau. Sun Hongpei, Vice President of Beijing Normal University and Director of the Administrative Committee of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai, attended the meeting. Senior officials from the Office of Educational Administration, the Office of Scientific Research and the Office of Macao and Taiwan Affairs of BNU Zhuhai attended the meeting.

At the University Presidents’ Forum, Sun Hongpei spoke on the topic of "Integrating the Advantages of Three Regions to Explore New Paradigms for Talent Cultivation." He highlighted the experiences and achievements of Beijing Normal University in the implementation of the "targeted teacher training plan” as well as innovative measures to enhance the quality of teacher training under the program by leveraging the advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, UK and His Delegation Visit BNU Zhuhai


On July 2, 2025, a delegation led by Professor Rudolf Allemann, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, UK, visited Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. Wei Wei, Vice Chairman of the University Council of Beijing Normal University (BNU) met with the guests at BNU Zhuhai .

Wei Wei extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Cardiff University. She emphasized that BNU places great importance on the strategic partnership with Cardiff University, noting that the long-term collaboration has fostered a solid foundation of mutual trust and yielded fruitful outcomes, which provides a robust basis for further deepening cooperation between the two institutions.

The 2025 International Summer School on Climate Change System Risk Prevention Successfully Held at BNU Zhuhai


The "2025 International Summer School on Climate Change System Risk Prevention," hosted by Beijing Normal University and co-organized by the Academy of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management Ministry of Emergency Management & Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Environmental Change and Natural Disasters (Ministry of Education), the State Key Laboratory of Earth Surface Processes and Resource Ecology, the Faculty of Geographical Science, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, was successfully held at BNU Zhuhai from July 14 to 25.

SFD International Summer School 2025: Building a Bridge of Design for Cross-Cultural Innovation


From July 15 to 24, 2025, School of Future Design of Beijing Normal University successfully held "International Summer School 2025:Design and Innovation Leadership." The program attracted 13 outstanding undergraduates and graduates from 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Montenegro, Serbia, and Singapore.

SFD of BNU Designs Logo for 10th Anniversary of China Cultural Center in Singapore


The 10th anniversary logo of China Cultural Center in Singapore, designed by a team of teachers and students from the School of Future Design of Beijing Normal University, has been officially released.

China Cultural Center in Singapore is jointly inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Singapore Emeritus Senior Minister Wu Zuodong. It is an important cultural institution established by the Chinese government overseas. Over the past decade since its founding, the center has fully served as a bridge for people-to-people and cultural exchanges, effectively promoting mutual understanding and friendship between China and Singapore.

Students of Huitong College Embark on an Interdisciplinary Talent Training Research Program in Singapore


In order to promote interdisciplinary innovation and development, stimulate students' interdisciplinary thinking and practical engagement, and support the training of top-notch innovative talent, Huitong College organized a group of 13 teachers and students to carry out an interdisciplinary talent training research program at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from July 13 to 21, 2025. The program featured specialized lectures, corporate visits, urban explorations, and other activities, offering a research journey that combined interdisciplinary knowledge exploration with multicultural experiences.

National Security Education Study Camp for Hong Kong and Macao Youth Student Leaders Concludes: Deepening National Security Awareness and Building a Unified Vision for the New Era


To thoroughly implement a holistic approach to national security and enhance the national security awareness and capabilities of youth from Hong Kong and Macao, the School of National Security and Emergency Management at Beijing Normal University hosted the "National Security Education Curriculum Exchange and Teaching Seminar—National Security Education Study Camp for Hong Kong and Macao Youth Student Leaders" from July 19 to 26, 2025. The event brought together over ten student leaders from the Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College of the University of Macau and the Education University of Hong Kong, along with experts and scholars of the Chinese Mainland. Through specialized lectures, on-site teaching, and group discussions, participants delved into the core principles of a holistic approach to national security, expanded their understanding of the rich connotations of various related national security fields, and strengthened their national security awareness and capabilities. Students achieved fruitful outcomes from the study camp.

On July 13, 2025, the kick-off seminar 2025 for Guangdong Planning of Philosophy and Social Science Major Entrusted Project, titled "Grasping the New Positioning of 'Macao plus Hengqin' to Accelerate the Promotion of Macao's Appropriately Diversified Economic Development Research" was held at the International Exchange Center of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. The project is led by Guan Chenghua, Director of Center for Innovation and Development Studies (Zhuhai). The meeting was chaired by Tu Qin, Executive Director of the Center.

Department of Foreign Languages of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Hosts "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Language Education Seminar" Exchange Program


From June 25 to 27, 2025, Beijing Normal University and The Education University of Hong Kong Exchange Program: Language Education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area , approved under the "10,000 Students Program" of the Ministry of Education's Mainland and Hong Kong & Macao Higher Education Institutions, was held at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai). Organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the event invited 17 postgraduates and undergraduates from the Education University of Hong Kong specializing in International Chinese Language Education and English Language Education. Additionally, 18 postgraduates and undergraduates from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences also took part in the exchange.

Promoting Education Exchange Between Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, Empowering Teachers' Professional Growth: Teacher Professional Development Seminar under "JC Cool Science" Program Held at BNU Zhuhai


From July 7 to 10, 2025, the Teacher Professional Development Seminar under "JC Cool Science" Program was held at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai). The training was organized and implemented by the School of Continuing Education and Teacher Training and School of Educational Technology with 38 Hong Kong primary school science teachers participating in the four-day seminar. The program aimed to support the implementation of independent science courses in Hong Kong primary schools starting from the 2025/26 academic year, enhance the inquiry-based teaching capabilities of Hong Kong primary school science teachers, and deepen collaboration between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in the field of science education at the elementary education level.

Signing Ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement and Inauguration Ceremony of "Greater Bay Area Tax Innovation Practice Base for Tax Professionals" Held at BNU Zhuhai


To thoroughly implement the spirit of Outline for the Construction of an Education Power and support the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Beijing National Accounting Institute has joined with Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai) and Guangdong Certified Tax Agents Association to establish comprehensive cooperation and jointly create the "Greater Bay Area Tax Innovation Practice Base for Tax Professionals". On August 20, 2025, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement and the inauguration ceremony of the base were held at BNU Zhuhai. Academic Exchanges & Research Updates


International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA) China Conference 2025 Held at BNU Zhuhai


From June 28 to 30, 2025, the International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA) China Conference was held at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. The conference was hosted by ICSA and co-organized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and School of Statistics of Beijing Normal University. It attracted over 600 renowned scholars, experts, and faculty and student representatives around the world, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhu Lixing, Co-Chair of ICSA China Conference 2025.




At the conference, Huang Jiaqi, a doctoral student of 2020 in applied statistics, was honored with the Junior Researcher Award. This award recognizes outstanding academic papers by graduate students and early-career scholars within three years of completing their PhD worldwide. This year, the award was presented to seven individuals. Besides Huang Jiaqi, the other six recipients were from Washington University in St. Louis, Renmin University, Fudan University, and Tsinghua University.

School of National Security and Emergency Management Organizes Field Investigation and Academic Exchange Program for Faculty and Students to the Southern Margin of the South China Sea in Borneo


In active alignment with the strategic deployment of "Building a Strong Maritime Nation," and to further advance international cooperation in resource security and disaster prevention and mitigation in the South China Sea, the School of National Security and Emergency Management organized a nine-day field investigation to the southern margin of the South China Sea in Borneo from July 17 to 25, 2025. The program was conducted in collaboration with a team led by Dr. Khor Wei-Chung from the Faculty of Science and Natural Resources at University Malaysia Sabah. The delegation was headed by Instructor Zhou Yang, with students Hu Haoran and Cai Bichuan participating in the entire trip. The team focused on key research topics such as paleo-geographic reconstruction of the southern South China Sea, the formation of the South China Sea, geological hazards, and assessment of oil and gas resource potential. They carried out field surveys and sampling work centered on resource security and natural disaster prevention and mitigation in the region.

Prof. Weijia Jia from AI and Future Network Research Institute Elected as Academician of National Academy of Artificial Intelligence


Professor Weijia Jia, Dean of AI and Future Network Research Institute, Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai, has been elected as an Academician of National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI). The certificate was officially awarded in August 2025 (Figure 2).

A research team led by Prof. Wu Xinchun and Dr. Chen Hongjun from the Department of Psychology of Faculty of Arts and Sciences recently published a paper titled “How Does Mind Reading Affect Story Reading Across Elementary School? Navigating the Cognitive and Emotional Pathways” in Child Development, an internationally authoritative journal in psychology (categorized as a JCR Q1 TOP journal in the Chinese Academy of Sciences psychology classification).

Dr. Gou Jiaojiao, a young faculty member in the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Beijing Normal University, has made significant progress in assessing the impact on river connectivity in China. Related findings were recently published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Jia Yongguang, Wang Kaojin, and Zhang Meng from Faculty of Arts and Sciences Awarded 2025 Innovation Award by China Association of Invention

Professors Jia Yongguang, Wang Kaojin, and Zhang Meng (from Professor Zhu Xiaoxia's research team) from the Department of Chemistry of Faculty of Arts and Sciences have been awarded the Second Prize of the 2025 "Invention and Entrepreneurship Award - Innovation Award" by China Association of Invention for their project titled "Facially Amphiphilic Biomimetic Preparation Technology of Antibacterial Polymer Materials". The award-winning project was led by Professor Jia Yongguang, with Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai serving as the lead institution.

Students from BNU Zhuhai Win Grand Prize in Brain Control Robot Competition (BCI) of World Robot Contest 2025


From August 8 to 12, 2025, a graduate student team from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences won the Grand Prize in the "Collaborative Control of Rehabilitation Robotic Hand via Brain-Computer Interface" category in the World Robot Contest 2025: Brain Control Robot Competition, guided by the National Natural Science Foundation of China , co-organized by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, Tsinghua University, and the Department of Information Sciences of the NSFC. The competition was held at Beiren Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Beijing.

at International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva


The project "Key Technology and Equipment for Dual-Pulse Preparation of Large-Area, Ultra-Thick, High-Toughness Diamond-Like Carbon Films," developed by the team led by Prof. Liao Bin from the Ion Beam Laboratory at Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Beijing Normal University, won the gold medal at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.

Dr. Min Rui from Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in Collaboration with an International Research Team, Makes Research Progress in Cardiopulmonary Function Assessment and Biometric Recognition


Dr. Min Rui from the Department of Psychology of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with an international research team, made significant research progress in cardiopulmonary function assessment and biometric recognition. The related findings, titled "Wearable photonic smart wristband for cardiorespiratory function assessment and biometric identification," were published as the cover article in Issue 5 (2025) of Opto-Electronic Advances, a leading journal under the Excellence Action Plan for China's Sci-Tech Journals (a top-tier journal in the Chinese Academy of Sciences with an impact factor of 22.4). The study has also garnered widespread attention from international sci-tech media.

Dr. Li Dongwei's Research Team from Faculty of Art and Sciences Publishes Paper in Child Psychology and Psychiatry


On August 4, 2025, a research team led by Special-Term Associate Researcher Li Dongwei from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Art and Sciences, Prof. Song Yan from Faculty of Psychology, and Researcher Sun Li from Peking University Sixth Hospital published a paper titled "Impaired Sensory-motor Integration in Children with Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder during Visual Search" online in Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry (ranked 3rd in JCR Developmental Psychology, 2024 IF=7.0), a top-tier journal in the fields of child psychology and psychiatry.

Wang Ping's Team with Collaborators Makes Significant Progress in the Field of Quantum Sensing


The research team led by Associate Researcher Wang Ping from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the group of Researcher Liu Gangqin from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences / Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics, has achieved a breakthrough in quantum sensing. Their findings were published under the title "Gaussian-to-non-Gaussian transition of a quantum spin bath revealed by fourth-order correlation" in the prestigious physics journal Physical Review Letters (2025, 134, 253601).

Prof. Zhang Chao's Research Team from School of National Safety and Emergency Management Publish Paper in Field Crops Research


On July 30, 2025, a research team led by Prof. Zhang Chao from the School of National Safety and Emergency Management published a paper titled "Overcoming wheat yield stagnation in China depends more on cultivar improvements than water and fertilizer management" in Field Crops Research. The study demonstrates that wheat varietal improvement in China holds greater potential for enhancing yield and sustainability compared to water and fertilizer management strategies.

From July 7 to 9, 2025, Belt and Road School(BRS) of Beijing Normal University organized a summer social practice program in Zigui County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, involving 23 international students from 16 countries. The program focused on areas such as historical and cultural heritage, major engineering projects, and characteristic industry development.
